Instructions:
Main hat Using 4mm needles cast on 28 sts in turquoise
Rows 1-2: Knit
Rows 3-16: Starting with a knit row SS 14 rows
Row 17: (K2tog) rpt to end (14 sts)
Row 18: (P2tog) rpt to end (7 sts)
B & T

Hands – make 2 in turquoise, cast on 10 sts leaving a long tail of wool
Row 1: Cast off 5 sts, K to end (5sts)
Row 2: P to end, cast on 5 sts (10sts)
Row 3: Cast off 5 sts, K to end (5st)
Rows 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14: Same as row 2
Rows 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 same as row 3
Row 15: Cast off all sts leave a long tail of wool

Hair: In orange cast on 16sts on 4mm needles
Row 1: Loopy stitch all stitches knitwise
Row 2: Loopy Stitch all stitches Purlwise
Row 3: Loopy Stitch all stitches Knitwise
Cast off all stitches purlwise.

Making Up:
Head: Sew up row ends inside out then turn right side out. Add 2 black felt circles for eyes and a black embroidered smile, and a small red pom-pom for the nose.
Hands: To make up you will have 8 fingers fold in half right side out, and put 2 fingers together all the way along you will now have 4 fingers doubled. Over sew all up side and round the fingers and down other side. Sew on the sides of main hat. Take a look at picture if you’re not sure.
Hair: Sew the hair to the top of the hat.  Take a look at the pic for guidance.

LOOPY STITCH
KNITWISE: Knit as normal but don’t pull st off left needle, bring the yarn forward between the needles and create a loop around your left thumb, now take the yarn to the back of the work between the needles and knit the st as normal. You will have created 2 sts so bring the first st over the second st on your right needle.
PURLWISE: Purl as normal but don’t pull the st off the left needle. Bring the yarn to the back of the work between the needles and create a loop round one of your left fingers, now take the yarn to the front of work between the needles and purl as normal. You will have created 2 sts so bring the first st over the second st on your right needle.
